Historical backfill: compiled October 4, 2026, with observations limited to the date discussed. US stock and ETF prices use New York regular-session closes.
Gold ETF GLD rose about 1.8% on September 3. QQQ gained about 1.2% and SPY 1.0%. Gold gained more, but stocks closed higher too; the prices did not depict safe-haven assets rising alone.
The dollar-index record fell about 0.6% from the previous session to 99.00. FRED’s ten-year real yield declined from 2.45% on September 2 to 2.42%, and the nominal ten-year yield from 4.79% to 4.77%. Long-duration Treasury ETF TLT rose only about 0.1%. The dollar and yield declines occurred on the same day as gains in gold and stocks, consistent with a brief easing in valuation pressure without identifying the day’s buying motives.
