Historical backfill: prepared on October 4, 2026; observations stop at the article date, using the US close.

Micron gained about 4.1% on Monday and lost roughly 7.0% on Tuesday. Its August 18 close of $940.76 was below the $971.66 recorded on August 14. The gain and loss apply to different bases; Monday’s advance did not preserve the starting price across the two sessions.

Memory was not alone. AMD fell about 4.3%, NVIDIA 2.3% and semiconductor ETF SMH 4.1%, against SPY’s 0.7% decline. The chip basket fell much harder than the broad proxy, with different losses among its constituents.

No sufficient same-day company announcement linking the move to new orders, HBM prices or capacity changes was verified. Fundamental deterioration remains unconfirmed.
