Historical note: compiled on October 4, 2026; the observation cutoff is the date in this article (2026-07-24, New York close).
At the July 24 New York close, Micron fell about 7.0%, giving back the previous day’s gain and more. Semiconductor ETF SMH lost 3.3%, Nvidia 0.9% and QQQ 1.1%, while SPY edged up 0.1%. The broad proxy changed little against much heavier price pressure in chips. That is not evidence that next quarter’s orders or earnings had turned down, and SPY’s positive close does not establish that chip selling ended.
The ten-year Treasury yield eased from 4.71% to 4.69%, the two-year from 4.37% to 4.33%, and the ten-year real yield stayed at 2.43%. Long-duration Treasury ETF TLT gained about 0.1%. Daily nominal-yield readings eased slightly and the real yield was unchanged, yet SMH declined. This directional comparison does not separate the contributions of rates and other influences to the losses.
