On June 9, Yahoo Finance’s SI=F silver-futures daily record fell about 4.9% from the previous session, against a roughly 1.6% decline in gold ETF GLD. Silver fell more sharply, but this compares a futures quotation with an ETF market price, not matching spot returns. Contract switches and trading-hour differences can affect the futures series; its change is not the total return from holding one unchanged contract.

DXY slipped about 0.1%, while the ten-year real yield edged down from 2.21% to 2.20%. These daily records did not move toward the stronger dollar and higher real yields commonly associated with metal weakness. Their different cutoffs still leave the contribution of those variables unidentified.

QQQ and SMH each lost about 1.2%, while long-duration Treasury ETF TLT gained roughly 0.6%. Long bonds provided a price cushion that the metals did not share. These quotations establish neither a flow from silver into bonds nor a sudden deterioration in industrial demand. One day’s silver loss also cannot invalidate a longer-term supply-and-demand case.
