Historical note: compiled on October 4, 2026; the observation cutoff is the date in this article (2026-06-01, New York close).
At the June 1 New York close, Nvidia gained about 6.3% and Micron 6.6%, well ahead of semiconductor ETF SMH’s roughly 1.5%. QQQ rose about 0.6% and SPY 0.3%. These quotes point to acceleration among the leaders, without establishing a shared repricing of equipment, foundries and analog chips.
VIX rose as well, from about 15.32 in the previous session to 16.05. It prices expected near-term volatility through S&P 500 index options, a different universe from Nvidia and Micron, and is not a simple bearish verdict. On a day of large gains for the two leaders, this measure of risk pricing still increased.
